Who We Are
Franklin's Middle is a not-for-profit organization created in 2024 to expose young men in South Windsor, Connecticut to the types of opportunities that exist for them to make a living as they grow up.
There are no costs to participate and the program is open to boys aged 12-16.

Why are We Doing This?
Ben Franklin's father used to take him on walks where they would visit local trade shops and commercial enterprises so that young Ben would be exposed to things that may interest him. Things he may be good at. Things he may want to do when he grew up.
It worked.
Working with South Windsor businesses who support this idea, we connect boys with these enterprises through site visits and discussions so that the boys understand what these operations do and what types of opportunities may be of interest to them in the future.
Small groups (3-7 boys) are given tours of the facilities and meet with some of the employees to learn the types of people and skills employed at each facility. Boys are welcome to attend one or more visits as long as their interest and participation continues.
What is in it for the Participants?
For the boys - this is a great way to get exposed to local opportunities and broaden their horizons. You just never know what is going to ignite the imagination so why not show a fella what is out there? If there is a downside - we haven't thought of it yet.
For the local businesses - this is a great way to support the young men of your community. You will have to open your doors and give an hour of access to your facilities and some employees. But the boys get so much out of it that the burden is relatively small, right?
